FAQ

Simple Beginnings does not use Romaine Lettuce.

In the past two years, the produce industry has been affected by several Romaine Lettuce incidents that have greatly diminished consumer confidence in Romaine.

Simple Beginnings discontinued the use of Romaine in April, 2019.  Every ingredient panel has been reprinted without Romaine as a component.

To be perfectly clear, we will print “Does Not Contain Romaine” on all blends that previously contained Romaine: Spring Mix and 50/50.

Where are your greens grown?

Simple Beginnings greens are proudly grown in the United States. Our greens are sourced from regions with the best growing conditions for each season. We work with American farmers coast to coast.

Do I need to wash the greens?

Simple Beginnings greens are thoroughly washed and packed fresh daily in our state-of-the-art processing facility. Should you choose to rewash the greens, please do so in a sink that has been sanitized to avoid the risk of cross-contamination.

Is anything added to your greens to preserve them?

No. There are no additives or preservatives in any of our products.

Can the greens be eaten after the “Best By” date printed on the package?

Our greens are packed fresh daily and are maintained in a consistent cold chain for maximum freshness. With proper cold storage and handling, your greens are expected to remain fresh up to the “Best By” date. While the greens often remain fresh past the “Best By” date, we cannot recommend consuming the product past this date. If there is any doubt about the quality or condition of a product, it’s best to throw it out.

What keeps the greens so fresh?

A consistent cold chain of 32 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit along with our washing and drying processes maintain the freshness.
